Colorectal Cancer Screening Questionnaire
The following questions are designed to assess your risk for developing
colorectal cancer. See if any of them apply to you.
- Have you passed any visible blood with your bowel movements?
- Has your bowel movement frequency, size or firmness changed recently?
- Have you or your parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters or children had
colon cancer or colon polyps?
- Do any of your other blood relatives have colon cancer?
- Do you have a history of Ulcerative Colitis or Crohns Disease?
- Have you ever been diagnosed as having colon polyps before?
- Have you had breast/uterine cancer diagnosed in the past?
If you answered "no" to all of these questions, The American Cancer Society recommends routine screening for colon cancer beginning at age 50. This consists of yearly hemoccults (stool for blood testing) and
flexible sigmoidoscopy every 3-5 years.
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you are more than "average" risk for colorectal cancer and may need a full colonoscopy.
