IMA converting to new computer management system
On Tuesday, May 1, 2007, IMA will be "Going Live" with a new electronic practice management system. During the first few weeks of this conversion you may experience delays at our reception areas. We ask that you bear with us as we implement a more efficient system. You may be asked for your insurance card and other information even though you believe we may already have it on file. Please be patient with us. As this system is fully implemented you can expect:

  • A quicker registration process
  • More timely filing of your insurance claims
  • More timely reporting of test results
  • An easier process in refilling prescriptions

Over the next eight months we will be installing an electronic medical record system. This will enable us to:

  • Send and receive medical information about you to and from your other health care providers, at your direction
  • Provide more accurate follow-up care
  • More easily comply with your insurance policy requirements for prior-authorizations, prescription formulary restrictions, and other requirements
  • Protect you from medical errors.

If you have any questions or comments, please call William Beyer, our Chief Operating Officer, at 812-355-6584; or you can email him at wbeyer@ima-md.com.

The Vein Center at IMA
The Vein Center at IMA is dedicated to providing patients with state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutic treatments for a full spectrum of venous disorders. The Center offers medical management of venous disease and varicose veins. We also offer a minimally invasive alternative to traditional vein stripping, which is performed in the office using local anesthesia. The comprehensive evaluation of our patients includes non-invasive imaging and testing of the veins and how they function. If you have varicose veins and would like to know more about your treatment options contact your health care provider about a Vein Center consultation appointment. During the Vein Center consultation we will review your history and examine your legs to determine the best approach to handling all of your vein problems.

Available Treatments
Sclerotherapy

This technique involves injecting a sclerosing agent into the spider veins. The sclerosing agent causes the inner lining of the vein to become irritated which results in the closure of the vein. A small needle is used to perform the injections and most patients relate the discomfort to that of a mosquito bite. The number of treatments will be determined at the time of your initial consultation. An average of 3-4 treatments is required in most cases.

Endovenous Laser Treatment
For large, bulky varicose veins an endovenous laser procedure will be performed by Dr. Carter Henrich. This replaces traditional vein stripping which required hospitalization and general anesthesia with a lengthy recovery period. This minimally invasive technique involving laser technology has had very favorable outcomes and high success rates. It is performed in the office under a local anesthesia. The recovery is rapid. It is typical for a patient to return to work either the same day or the day after the procedure. There is little restriction in activity, however rigorous activity is limited. The procedure takes approximately 45 minutes.
